February 28, 2010 Lisa Mason 1 comment

When it comes to writing articles for money, you can learn how to get started making a living from your writing.  Maybe you’ve always dreamed of writing full time or perhaps job layoffs, illness or injury or other life circumstances have you searching for a way to earn a living with your writing. Whatever the reason, the first step is to understand that it can be done.

Many people make a living from their writing and you can do the same. First, you need to have a business plan. You can’t expect to make a living writing if you go into it treating it like something you do on the side or as a hobby. You must get serious about writing before you can earn serious money. Here are some tips to creating your plan:

  • Determine how much money you need to make to get by so that you know what your goal is.
  • Determine how much time you have to work in each day. Then work a schedule around this.
  • Plan a method of reaching your goals and schedule each part of your day so that you stay on task.
  • Learn as much as you can about how to improve the quality of your writing and how to write properly for the Web.
  • Learn about SEO (search engine optimization) and how to write keyword-oriented articles that are also directed to the human reader.
  • Learn to write tight, concise articles in a focused niche.

These are all the methods behind the writing but when it comes to the actual mechanics, practice will take you a long way. The more you write, the better you will become. The more you write, the more “clips” you will build as well which makes it possible for you to earn more with your writing.

When you learn to write faster, you can get more articles written in a shorter period of time which also equals more money in your pocket. But the key to getting rich with article writing lies in finding a balance between quality and quantity so that you can write more but without sacrificing the quality that is needed for successful articles.

It’s also important not to sell yourself short. There are many people in the industry today who will try to take advantage of you or get as much from you as possible. Take time to research the going rates in the industry for your type of article writing and for your level of experience. You should also do calculations to see what your earnings come to on an hourly pay schedule. Determine what you need to make per hour and don’t bend on this.

Now that you know more about how to get started making a living from your writing, you can get started writing articles for money. When you have the motivation and determination, it’s possible to learn the skills and become a writing pro yourself.

Article Writing- How to Write Good Articles, Fast

February 25, 2010 Lisa Mason Leave a comment

Writing an article is not rocket science. You are sharing information in a body of work. While it does take a certain amount of talent and possibly a love of the written word, by following a few easy tips you can learn how to write good articles, fast. No more spending hours laboring over the correct wording and information layout.

Before you even begin to put together an article you must organize your information and thoughts so that you know what you want to share with your readers. Take a few moments to collect your thoughts, think about what you want your reader to take away from the article and get started!

  1. Your opening paragraph should tell your reader what the article is about and how you will provide either a solution or an answer that the reader is looking for.
  2. The body of your article should consist of either a bulleted list, numbered list or a series of short paragraphs that lay out the information you want to share in a naturally flowing, concise manner. Don’t indulge in pretty prose, because an article reader is looking for the facts, not pretty words.
  3. Closing the article consists of reiterating a key point or two from the article and any final thoughts on the subject.

When you have your information gathered and thought out before you begin writing you can easily follow these guidelines to write an informative, helpful and even personable article that says everything you want to convey to your reader within 10 to 15 minutes.

Don’t over think the wording or even the spelling and grammar in your article. That is where spelling and grammar check programs and proofreading come in. Get your information down and then tweak it to make sure that you have written not just a fast article, but a good article, fast.
