When it comes to writing articles to convey a message to the reader, sometimes you need to say it two ways. We often get focused as writers and only look at it one way. We forget that our readers may have a different take on the topic or even more possible, they won’t understand what you intended with your written words.
Any writer who has ever had someone read what they wrote and misinterpret it can understand the frustration that comes with this type of problem. You pride yourself on being able to express yourself through the written word and to have someone misunderstand you can be very frustrating indeed.
One thing that we forget sometimes is that people won’t always come from the same walks of life or the same past experiences. They may not even be from the same part of the world as you and this can interfere with their ability to know what you’re saying. This is why it is important sometimes to say it two ways.
You don’t want to be redundant in your articles and you don’t want to risk any duplicate content violations but that’s not what I’m talking about here. What I mean is how can you take your topic and find a new way or a different way to describe it so that others may be able to understand it as well?
One example might be to state your advice or opinion and then give an example of it being used. For example, in a parenting article you might say “Be patient when your child is not properly following directions”. Then you might give them the example by telling them a story and showing how they should respond such as this:
When you ask your child to clean up their room and you go to check on them later to find the room still in a mess, don’t lose your cool and start to yell. Instead, try talking to your child and asking them why they didn’t clean their room. Often you will find the problem can be worked out or that there was a misunderstanding on some level.
This is just one example of how to “say it two ways”. The next time you write an article, you should think about how you can say it two ways to help your reader fully understand what you are writing about. This is especially true in articles that are giving advice or directions.
Now that you know these article tips for how to say it two ways, you can apply them to your article writing from now on. It’s just that easy to improve your writing.
