Can You Really Make Money with Associated Content?

Payments a few days ago from AC

Can you really make money with Associated Content?

This is a question I get often as a freelance writer and also as a Community Guide for AC. You can definitely earn money with Associated Content or I wouldn’t be wasting my precious time there at all. Time is money for me and I have tried nearly every Web site promising to pay writers before AC came along and since. Each time a new site comes along, I sign up and check it out so that I can share my opinions and reviews here with other writers or aspiring Internet writers. Associated Content is by far the one with the most potential for earnings.

I’ve screenshotted my Paypal account for today showing my payouts for AC articles written the past couple of days. All those $8-10 payments really add up and can make a big difference in my account. Of course sometimes the payments are lower and sometimes they are higher but it’s all part of a process of learning to write quality content for the Web and learning to market yourself and your writing well. I never really worried about my Page Views and I usually go days without even checking my page views. I’m too busy writing to worry about a hit here or there.

However, part of smart Web writing is to gauge your traffic and where it’s coming from. This is another reason AC is a good source for internet writers. Page views are updated daily and you can see which articles are performing. You can also receive all time stats on each piece you have published so you know what is continuing to come in. The only thing missing is search engine stats so that we know what search terms are used to find our articles. Maybe this is something we will see in the future as AC continues to grow.

The second most common question I get is “How do I make money with Associated Content?”

The short answer is to write high quality, keyword-oriented articles that are useful to the reader. It’s difficult to explain all of the different factors that go into earning with AC articles here in one blog post. There are just too many factors to be taken into consideration. However, the entire purpose of this blog is to provide free tips and advice on writing so if you use the tips found around the site, it will help you. I am also available for help on specific questions so feel free to ask if you are a current AC Contributor or looking to become one.

This Paypal snapshot is just an example of upfront payments I earned. This isn’t counting the residuals that you earn from page views over time. I have over 3 years worth of articles that are consistently earning page view bonuses and making more and more money for me. A great way to balance out your earnings on AC is by doing occasional pieces which you enjoy and that will show the readers you are a quality writer but spend the rest of the time doing searchable content such as “how tos” or other information pieces. My top performers of all time were “10 Inspirational Quotes for Children” and “A World of Warcraft Wedding“. They published in 2007 and I still get comments on them (as recent as today). They rank high in the search engines so people can continue to find them for years to come.

Currently this month, I have earned nearly $10 in PVs from the first one alone. This adds up when you have many articles like this all earning you money year after year after year. Just think if I made $10/month every month for one piece since 2007… when you do the math, it’s a very high earning article and I wrote it for fun that paid $4.53 originally (very low pay by my standards). The WoW article paid $3.51 upfront in Jan 2007. Now it’s 3 years later and I’ve made hundreds on it, for sure. This is how you can really make money with Associated Content.

I also highly recommend signing up for the Featured Contributor programs and other incentives, contests and programs that AC comes out with on a regular basis. This is a great way to get noticed by the staff of AC and stand out among the many Contributors that sign up and submit on a regular basis. This means more of an opportunity for you get partner assignments, special assignments and more. If you have any questions about these programs, feel free to ask me!

*I will be reviewing and posting information on other sites that pay writers to help you make a more informed decision about which sites are right for you and how to maximize your earnings with these sites.

Article Tips- Write Every Day

You’ve probably heard it said before but if you want to become a better article writer and benefit more from your articles, you need to write every day. Even if it’s only one article per day, this every day rule is essential to success as an article writer.

If you want to take your writing seriously or begin to receive serious benefit from your articles then you owe it to yourself to put forth the effort it takes to write. If you can’t make writing articles enough of a priority to write some every day, then how do you ever expect to get better at it or to write more articles?

When you can’t even take your article writing serious enough to ensure you work on it some each day, how can you expect others to take you serious with what you write or to consider you an article writer? There are many things about article writing that can be taught but practice makes perfect and the more you do it, the better you will become.

It’s also about making it a habit and allowing article writing to become a regular part of your day and your life. When you put forth the effort to do it every day, you are showing yourself that you take your article writing seriously. This is necessary if you ever hope to get somewhere with your articles.

You may be thinking you have a busy enough life already and while you want to write more, you just don’t see how you can fit it in everyday. This is when it’s time to prioritize. If writing articles is really that important to you then you will make the time to do it.

Even if you can’t get to your computer every day or maybe you have to share the computer with someone else, you can find time to write an article or notes for articles every day. Create an article journal or notebook and carry it around with you. Jot down your ideas so you can get them typed up when you do get to the computer.

Can you slot aside 30 minutes each evening after work or before dinner? Maybe you can get up a little earlier each day and squeeze some morning writing time in. Whatever your situation, it’s important that you make time for writing and treat it seriously or you won’t get anywhere.

Now that you see how important it is to write every day, you can begin making the steps needed to write more with your days. When you write every day, you keep yourself in practice. This is what it’s all about when you want to start writing better. You will get faster and your quality will improve when you put forth the effort to write every day. Happy writing!
